Flos Carmeli

On today's feast of  the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mt Carmel, here are two of the eight verses of a hymn believed to have been composed by St Simon Stock after he received the Scapular from Mary on July 16, 1251.

Flos Carmeli. [PB 1980s]
Flos Carmeli,
vitis florigera,
splendor caeli,
virgo puerpera
singularis.
Flower of Carmel,
Vine blossom laden;
Splendour of heaven,
Childbearing maiden.
None equals thee.

Mater mitis
sed viri nescia
Carmelitis
da privilegia.
Stella maris.

O Mother benign
Who no man didst know,
On all Carmel's children
Thy favours bestow.
Star of the Sea.

Totus tuus ego sum
Et omnia mea tua sunt;
Tecum semper tutus sum:
Ad Jesum per Mariam
